1. Delete your account from inside the app (fastest)
The quickest way is from within the WalletLoop app itself:
- Open the WalletLoop app on your phone.
- Tap the More tab in the bottom navigation.
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll to the Data section.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Your account is queued for permanent deletion immediately. You'll be signed out of the app and your data will be removed from our servers within 30 days (typically within 7 business days).
2. Delete your account by email
If you can't access the app (for example, you uninstalled it or lost your phone), email us from the email address linked to your account, or include your registered phone number in the body:
Email: privacy@walletloop.in
Subject line: Account Deletion Request
Body must include: the phone number OR email address you used to sign up (so we can locate your account).
We will confirm receipt within 2 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days from your request. We may verify your identity before deletion (e.g., by sending a confirmation OTP to your registered number).
3. What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove the following from our servers within 30 days:
- Your profile: name, phone number, email address, monthly income, savings goal, premium status.
- All transactions you saved or that were auto-detected — amounts, merchants, categories, dates, notes.
- All debts: loan details, credit card details, pay-later balances, personal debts including names of people you entered.
- All budgets and recurring expenses you set up.
- All accounts (cash, bank, card, UPI labels) you created.
- All split expenses and split-member names.
- Custom categories and subcategories you created.
- Memorized merchant rules you saved.
- Push notification tokens (FCM device tokens linked to your account).
- Authentication data with Firebase (phone number, email, Google account link).
4. What is retained (and for how long)
- Server access logs (HTTP request method/path/status/latency, with all authentication tokens and PIN hashes redacted before logging) are retained by our log providers for up to 90 days, then automatically deleted. These are not linked to your account after deletion.
- Anonymous merchant-correction proof tokens (only if you opted into "Help improve categorization") expire automatically after 4 weeks. These were never linked to your account or device to begin with — they are cryptographic hashes that the server cannot link back to you.
- Aggregated, anonymized counts of how many distinct devices have proposed each merchant. These contain no personal identifiers and cannot be reverse-linked to you.
5. What stays on your phone after deletion
These are not on our servers, so we cannot delete them remotely. You can remove them yourself:
- Your 4-digit app-lock PIN — stored on your device in secure storage. Removed when you uninstall the app or clear app data.
- Cached transactions, theme preference, SMS dedup memory, offline queue — all stored on your device. Removed when you uninstall the app or clear app data via your device's Settings → Apps → WalletLoop → Storage → Clear data.
6. Partial deletion (without deleting your account)
If you only want to delete some of your data — for example, a few specific transactions or a single debt — you can do this without deleting your entire account:
- Individual transactions: Open the History tab, swipe left on any entry, tap Delete.
- Individual debts, subscriptions, budgets, accounts: Open the corresponding tab, swipe left on the entry, tap Delete.
- Custom categories you created: Settings → Categories → tap a custom category → Delete.
- Memorized merchant rules: Settings → Memorized Merchants → tap a row → Delete.
Each per-row deletion takes effect immediately on our servers. There is no 30-day delay for these — only full account deletion has the up-to-30-day retention window.
7. After deletion
Once your account is deleted, the deletion is permanent and irreversible. We do not maintain a "recently deleted" recovery tier. If you change your mind and want to use WalletLoop again, you can sign up with a fresh account using the same phone number or email — but your previous data cannot be restored.
8. Your rights under DPDP Act, 2023
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to erasure of your personal data. The deletion process described on this page satisfies that right. If you believe your deletion request has not been honored, you can lodge a grievance:
Email: privacy@walletloop.in
We respond to privacy-related requests within 7 business days.
Unresolved complaints can also be escalated to the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Questions about your data before deletion?
If you'd like a complete export of your data before deletion (transactions, debts, budgets — in CSV, XLSX, or PDF format), you can do this from inside the app: More → Settings → Data → Export all data. There is no charge.
Full details on what we collect, how we use it, and your other rights are in our Privacy Policy.
